Mandate

The mandate of the Department is as following:

·        Promote the processing, packaging and storage of agricultural produce to reduce post-harvest losses

·        Develop cottage size processing industries

·        Support the adoption of on-farm processing and storage structures to reduce post –harvest losses

·        Promote the processing, packaging and storage of agricultural produce to reduce post-harvest losses

·        The develop market infrastructure to promote access to market by stakeholders

·        Develop improved preservation techniques and quality enhancement processes for domestic and export markets

·        Develop agricultural market infrastructure (marketing and trading centre, storage facilities, etc)
